The Over 50 Crowd

Saw “Eat, Love and Pray” last night and enjoyed it but it was long.
This is my synopsis of what I got out of it. We create our own
balance and our own environment. We can look for answers everywhere
and there certainly are “wise men/women” out there, but ultimately
it is up to us (you and I) and we can find it anywhere. I haven’t
read the book however, so that might be totally different.
Also went up to Palm Beach and saw a blues type play set in a
nightclub. There was no acting, just blues music. Different and
interesting and the music was wonderful.
This was a week of catchup getting the carpets cleaned, the car
getting its checkup and two coaching sessions just for me. I also
went back to the plastic surgeon and we decided on getting my
skin to a more manageable state before we even think about
reconstruction. This should take 2 sessions and relieve my
tightness, pull and tension.
When I was at the Art Fair in Grand Haven, my sister-in-law and
I were approached by two women who said “We want to look just like
you two when we’re your age. Would you come and take a picture
with us?” Then late that evening at the festival 3 young guys
passed by and said “You two are mighty fine looking women–for
your age–mighty fine.” There’s a pic on my facebook page of
the two of us.
I’ll let you decide whether or not those are left handed compliments
or great ones. I was happy but my sister-in-law thought it was a
joke!

Question and Answer:
Q: I am really curious as to how I can change what I’ve been doing,
when I’ve been doing it so long. I would like to begin a new job
or at least a new way of doing it. I am bored and afraid I am getting
a little sloppy in my work.
A: I love re-invention. I am now in my 5th re-invention myself.
What you need to do is write down what you want to do more than
anything else. Then figure out what it is you contribute to someone
by bringing your skills and talent to the party. Then see if someone
will pay you for it. In these difficult times, it may not be easy
convincing someone to try something totally new, so if there is a way
for you to keep your old job and offer your services for free on a
weekend, or apprentice yourself in some way, or work at it part-time
so you can prove yourself to them, do it. You may find out it isn’t
what you want or you may also figure out a way to make it pay as your
own business. Sometimes the grass looks greener until you get there.
I believe in experimenting to find your happiness, so don’t give up
the old college try.

Tips:
1. When people see you are assured, confident and determined, they
won’t bother you. They will admire you.
2. Wherever you are in your life, try something new and exciting.
3. Use a journal to write down your inspirations and the things
you’d like to see, read, participate in or join. Make an idea book.
