Wow! What a week. After a wonderful time in Jackson Hole, my son headed for San Diego and I went back to Miami Beach to pick up Abby. I then got on a plane for San Diego and my son headed back to Miami Beach. On his second night at home, his bedroom caught fire, and in just minutes was totally engulfed in flames. Thank heaven he got out with only a burn on his heel, but the trauma remains. Although the bedroom was totally destroyed, his entire house is covered in soot and smoke damage, and 25 years of memories and collectibles are gone. He is staying at my house and said if it wasn’t for that, he would be totally devastated. He feels my husband all around him and maybe this will make his move back with me happen a little faster. He’s setting up an office there, and it looks like we’ll be spending a lot more time together. May I suggest to all of you to check your exits, fire extinguishers, an escape plan and what and who you would rescue. With children and pets, it becomes much more complicated and you have no idea how fast these things spread.

With that said, SD has been extremely warm since I’ve been here, and people are enjoying it. Abby on the other hand, prefers the cooler weather and since I don’t use the air conditioner as much as I do in Miami Beach, she is panting her way through the week. I did a radio interview just on pets and what it ‘s like to live with multiple pets (It’s great!). When the kids were little, we had 5 dogs and 3 cats and it was a literal zoo. Yes, I know, it’s crazy but I’m a pet lover extraordinaire and to me there just isn’t anything better than having those loving creatures around you.

Giving a little presentation tonight on the S.OB. –and looking forward to it. Shot some personal safety videos for my new membership site with a gal who is a former police officer and runs a self defense company for women. Then went to a networking award celebration for women doing amazing things for others women and children in the community. It was unbelievable what some people are able to achieve when they put their minds to it and have a passion and belief in their cause. Maybe you should put that little dream of yours into action.

Question and Answer:

Q: How important do you think image really is? I can’t afford fancy clothes or even an image consultant. I’m thinking of getting back into the work world and even in personal situations, don’t always think I fit in with my clothes. Any suggestions?

A: Although it would be nice to have your pick of anything you want, it doesn’t take a lot of money to look good. You can shop sales, and even second hand or consignment shops have extremely nice clothes for a very minimum price. You can also approach a personal consultant at some department stores to help you put a wardrobe together and they don’t charge for that. Take note of their suggestions and that will help you begin to develop a style sense and what looks good on you.

Image is important in that it gets you the first impression. And that can take you out of the pack. However, if your speech, abilities, and personality don’t kick in after that, all the outer image won’t do you any good. Just remember, simpler is better and when you choose basic colors and style, you can use a lot of different accessories to jazz it up and it goes with a lot of different combinations.

Tips:

1. Pick an exercise program that works for you so you’ll stick with it.

2. Your posture communicates health, vigor, alertness and interest, so never slouch or prop yourself up.

3. Don’t dwell on failures. It doesn’t matter what doesn’t work, only what does.
