Just completing a week in San Diego and it has been the most beautiful week I have ever had here. The weather has been ideal and I have enjoyed each and every day. Went to a networking event which was amazing. Lots of young talent and excitement. Then spent a day with the TV producer who did my first demo video and showed her around. She loved San Diego and is a ball of fire. Had a long board meeting via phone the next day and out to dinner with a friend who is having hip surgery so won’t get to see her the next trip. Spent the next day reading an entire book and out to dinner with another friend and had lunch the following with still another friend. Finished off the evening at the Starlite theatre in Balboa Park which is outside and saw “Hello Dolly.“ The actors actually freeze when a plane flied overhead and I counted 45. Finishing up today with another lunch and a networking event this evening. With all these lunches, you can bet I’ve been at the gym every day. I didn’t miss a day! Tomorrow back to Miami Beach for just one day and then off to Pennsylvania.

Question and Answer:

Q: I am really very lonely. I work part time and haven’t met anyone at the job to even socialize with. I don’t like going to bars and don’t know how to begin socializing again since my husband died. Any suggestions?

A: There are so many people online today that it is becoming harder and harder to find where they physically hang out. However, I have found that when you start developing hobbies and interests that are exciting to you, you will find other people at those places and events who are also interested and excited in those things as well. Then you have something to talk about and before you know it, you have new friends. However, when you go somewhere to purposely meet someone, you are usually disappointed. When you don’t have an agenda, magic happens.

People always ask me how I meet so many people and I do! But I never go looking for them. I just go to places that I want to and end up connecting there. A friend of mine once told me that I knew more people in San Diego coming here one week every month, than she did living here for 10 years.

* Some of you might want to get my CD series on “The Social You” on my website. It’s especially for women over 50 and I interview some terrific women.

Tips:

1. When you smile, you light up your own life as well as the people you meet.

2. Remember, 3500 calories equals one pound. So to gain weight you must eat that much extra and to lose weight, you must eliminate 3500 calories to drop that pound.

3. When a stressful experience happens to you, practice deep breathing. You will calm down and clear your head.
