Humid week from Your SOB

It’s been a wild, humid week.  Although I must say that last week
I was up in Lake Placid, New York giving a speech.  I landed in
Albany (my old home town), picked up my girlfriend and we drove
up together.  While having brunch at a lovely restaurant on the
main street, 4 bikers came up to eat right beside us.  Turned
out they were all Pharmacists from Nova Scotia and just delightful.
We had quite a conversation and they are very happy with  the
Canadian Health Care System.  We also had dinner with a speaker
friend of mine, Susan Friedman, who lives up there and probably
doesn’t get too many “buddies” visiting there to speak. It was
delightful.  Plus my group was fantastic, there were dogs everywhere
and on the way back, I saw a baby deer cross the road right in
front of me, so my days were fantastic.

My echo came back clear as a bell and everyone has said my heart is
very strong.  That’s great because I intend to live as long as my
mom who passed away…

Fathers Day From SOB

Hope everyone had an extraordinary Father’s Day.  Dads don’t
always get the kudos they deserve.  My father was terrific
and I was lucky to be raised in such a loving family.  My
son often says to me “The best thing that ever happened
to me is that I was born to you and Dad.”  I feel the same
way.  My parents raised me with love, accountability,
responsibility, discipline and fairness.  I love them both
to this day.

Just found some interesting facts for you all from the PR
Insider.  Senior women age 50 and over control net worth
of $19 trillion and own more than three-fourths of the
nation’s financial wealth.  This from the MassMutual Financial
Group.  Pretty impressive isn’t it?  Claire Behar who is
Senior Partner and Director of New Business Development for
Fleishman-Hillard New York says, “Over the next decade, women
will control two-thirds of consumer wealth in the U.S. and  be
the beneficiaries of the alrgest transference of wealth in our
country’s history.”  So ladies, we have a lot of power coming
to us and we need…

Networking with SOB

It’s been a fantastic week in San Diego. Although it starts off grey in the morning, by noon the sun is shining brightly and there’s no humidity! I also got together with several friends. Had a lovely dinner party done for me and some other friends, lunched at a variety of restaurants, worked out every single day and even snuck in a personal training session working on my core, which I need desperately. And Abby has been with me every inch of the way enjoying herself wherever we go and then collapsing into a deep sleep once we get home.

Went to a terrific women’s networking group and meant some fantastic women. Some of them are even Spunky Old Broads! I hope all of you are taking some of the things that are happening in the world and adding your positive contributions to them. I truly believe that if women led the world, we’d have less strife, and if we were in the drivers seat where companies are concerned, we wouldn’t have the economic turmoil as well. We make decisions with our head and our heart and use that little thing called “common sense.”

My kids had…

Windy Days From Your SOB

June 7, 2010

It’s been an interesting week, interrupted by our famous thunder
storms.  We had 78 mile an hour winds at my home which is the
same as a Category One Hurricane.  Hopefully, that’s not an omen
of what’s to come this hurricane season.  Lots of palm fronds
down, but all is settled right now.

Went to a fantastic concert of Spanish Guitar, Oud and Dumbeck
at the Bass Art Museum near me.  Always interesting to hear
new instruments.  Took an ethics course for my re-certification
as a Management Consultant and wouldn’t it be wonderful if all
the places we visited practiced good ethics.  Also finally saw
“Letters to Juliet” which was fabulous and I wanted a shining
knight to ride up on his horse just for me.  Got a clean bill of
health from my G.P. although will have a EKG done just for the
heck of it and blood work too.  Met with some new business
contacts and hope some new relationships were born.

But the most interesting piece of news for us SOB’s is the Al and
Tipper Gore separation.  According to…
