Had a most spectacular time on Saturday. The president of my college (Emerson College) is retiring in June after 20 years. Although I went to a celebration for her in Boca Raton at the Polo Club the end of January, they had another celebration for her in Los Angeles this past weekend. Since I am m San Diego, I thought I might as well drive up for the night. (Had to come back the same day because I had Abby with me).
Well, it was at the home of Kevin Bright who was the Executive Producer of friends which was high up in the Hollywood Hills and huge!!!! Got my picture taken with Henry Winkler (remember the Fonz), Maria Menounos (gorgeous and tall), and the young man who plays Frankie Valli in the Jersey Boys. Vin DiBona was there (exec producer of America’s Funniest Videos), Doug Herzog who heads up USA network, the guy who is Director of Publicity for Showtime (all Emersonians).
Makes me so proud I was a part of this school. And I will include the pics when I am on a computer that has the hook-ups I need.
Met with Marlene Siersema today for lunch. She’s a double for Carol Burnett and has the same bubbly personality. She’s got a great radio show and is so talented it makes your head spin. I was a guest on her show many moons ago and we’ve remained friends ever since. Isn’t it wonderful that we meet such fantastic people in the world.
Have the rest of the week here on the West Coast. But can you imagine? They now charge $125 each way to take your pet–plus no frequent flyer points and they count as luggage, You can take a 30 pound baby on
Your lap free, but a 9 pound dog is considered all of the above and costs $250 round trip. I am going to wage a war about this, but Abby is worth it!

Question and Answer:
Q: I have friends I’ve known for years but I feel like I am growing apart from them. I love them to death, but they don’t really understand this new person I’ve become. What should I do?
A: Friends don’t have to understand you. They just have to be there for you. That’s the beauty of being a true friend. They may not agree with you but they are still there for you when you need them and are there to listen when you complain. You should always be on the lookout for people who are new and part of the life you are creating now. You don’t have to eliminate old friends to add new ones. Actually, having as many friends as you can is terrific. Just remember, there’s a difference between friends, acquaintances, advisors, and others in your life. Only when someone denigrates or makes fun of you should you consider not being with them any more.

Tips:
1. Conversation is the art which reveals much of the truth about people.
2. The only way to come out ahead is to follow your own path.
3. Remember how the other person feels. Empathize instead of sympathize.
