Breast Cancer Awarness Month

October 18, 2010

We all know that October is Breast Cancer Awareness month.  And
most of you also know that I am a 3 time survivor or as I like
to say a breast cancer champion.  I have been doing a lot of
media this month on the topic, and although there is a lot of
controversy out there, I am still a strong proponent of mammograms.

Each of my cancers were detected by a mammogram so you can
understand why i am so strong on the issue.  In fact, I am going
ahead…

Columbus Day with the Spunky Old Broad

11th October, 2010 - Posted by gaylecarson - No Comments

October 11, 2010
Happy Columbus Day everyone. It is definitely the fall with all the colors changing in the trees, but I’m in beautiful San Diego enjoying the weather here.
Spent the weekend at a wonderful seminar where it was refreshing to hear some new speakers along with some seasoned people but they all had something to offer and I made some new friends. I hope all of you are doing everything you can to continue your personal growth. Much of the time people say to me Don’t you know it yet? In fact, that was my husband’s…

Class Reunion For Women Over 50

5th October, 2010 - Posted by gaylecarson - No Comments

October 5, 2010

Sorry I’m a little late but I didn’t have access to a computer believe it or not.  Unfortunately, I didn’t take my laptop because my friend said she had a computer, but it didn’t have the programs on it I needed, so I was at a dead stop for several days.

I went up to my high school reunion in Albany, New York and it was fantastic.  They asked my old dancing partner and I to dance as part of a “Dancing with the Stars” program (we hadn’t danced in 55 years), and we had a breakfast…

Women Over 50 House Fire

27th September, 2010 - Posted by gaylecarson - No Comments

September 27, 2010

Wow! What a week. After a wonderful time in Jackson Hole, my son headed for San Diego and I went back to Miami Beach to pick up Abby. I then got on a plane for San Diego and my son headed back to Miami Beach. On his second night at home, his bedroom caught fire, and in just minutes was totally engulfed in flames. Thank heaven he got out with only a burn on his heel, but the trauma remains. Although the bedroom was totally destroyed, his entire house is covered in soot and smoke damage, and…

Football Season is On

25th September, 2010 - Posted by gaylecarson - No Comments

I tried to find something interesting on TV yesterday as the rain came down, but all the major stations had football, so I tried Hallmark (which I love) and USA (which has great re-runs).  I used to watch football with my husband, as he was a fanatic.  Watched all channels at once, yelled at everyone, and was totally occupied every Sunday.  Now, I just tune in for the scores so I know what's going on.

I ended up developing some handouts for programs I have coming up, and reading the second volume of a 500 page missive from Jay Abraham. …

Women Over 50 Can Go Sight Seeing!

20th September, 2010 - Posted by gaylecarson - No Comments

September 20, 2010

I am in Jackson Hole, Wyoming enjoying the massive expanse of the west. The Tetons are magnificent and I stare at them outside my window. I’m here with my son and am thrilled we were able to do this as Jackson Hole was a place my husband and I enjoyed to the max. We went horseback riding and of course as is always the case, I got the biggest horse. For some reason, every time I ride I am on the biggest highest horse. So after I used a picnic table to get on board, it was…

Spunky Old Broad talks in Oklahoma City

13th September, 2010 - Posted by gaylecarson - No Comments

September 13, 2010

I am writing to you today from Oklahoma City where I did a program yesterday to a group of law firm clients. They were a wonderful group and I talked about the “9 Secrets of Living a Regret Free Life.” The most important thing to me was that most of them were even bigger animals lovers than I was. We had “Troubles” their Maltese mascot dog there, another person had a farm with horses ,miniature horses, cats, dogs, a rabbit etc. And many felt like I do, if you don’t like pets, we probably won’t like you.…

Women Over 50 Celebrate Labor Day

6th September, 2010 - Posted by gaylecarson - No Comments

September 6, 2010

Today is Labor Day and a lazy one for most people.  It is also my
parent’s anniversary.  They gave me the model of a happy marriage
and I must say that I chose a man very much like my father.  Easy
going, loved his wife and family, did for others etc.  My husband
was a little more of a dreamer and experimenter, but perhaps that
was a sign of the times.  My dad was a product of the depression
but still took care of everyone and was a community leader.  He

The Traveling SOB

August 30, 2010

Just came back from the Veteran Speakers Retreat in Boiling Springs,
PA.  Yes, there is such a place!  This is where I was honored as a
Legend in the Speaking Profession in 2007 and I had the privilege
of introducing another Legend posthumously.  It was a wonderful
event and many of the well known speakers of the industry were
there.  Very remote however, and internet and cell phone were
on and off, but relaxation was the key of the day.

Attended a wonderful women’s networking dinner in San Diego when

Women Over 50 Can Still Enjoy The Weather

23rd August, 2010 - Posted by gaylecarson - No Comments

August 23, 2010

Just completing a week in San Diego and it has been the most beautiful week I have ever had here. The weather has been ideal and I have enjoyed each and every day. Went to a networking event which was amazing. Lots of young talent and excitement. Then spent a day with the TV producer who did my first demo video and showed her around. She loved San Diego and is a ball of fire. Had a long board meeting via phone the next day and out to dinner with a friend who is having hip surgery…
