Don’t have as much news this week as my surgery was on Thursday and
I just had my bandages removed this morning. He says I look great
(I look like a lobster on one side!) and that I will have to do another
4 or 5 procedures just to get more skin on my chest. I am sore, sore,
sore but will be back at the gym tomorrow morning.

I went to a Classical Guitar concert at the Bass Museum yesterday
(bandages and all) and it was fantastic! Met some great people there
and formed a new friendship with a lovely woman who is going to spend
the rest of the summer in France. We will reconnect in October.

Did a radio show today that will air on Blog Talk Radio on Tuesday
July 19 at 8 p.m. EST. Why don’t you tune in if you can?

Met with my new marketing team, had a spiritual coaching session and
worked with another coach this past week. They are all so talented
and such wonderful people.

See you next week.

Question and Answer:

Q: It seems that everyone I know has some kind of problem that is
overtaking their life. I can’t listen to all of this without feeling
some sympathy and I try to give them advice, but it is taking a toll
on me. How should I handle this? I want to help any way I can but
it’s the same thing over and over again.

A: There are a lot of good people who can’t seem to catch a break or
don’t want to. There are others who like being in a rejected or pitiful
situation because then they can always be the victim. However, this is
not healthy and not advantageous. And certainly, not something to
strive for. Don’t break off your relationship with these people, but
do let them know that since they are not taking your advice or any
action about these events, that you don’t want to talk about them or
spend your energy on them. Yes, they might be insulted, but they will
get the message. And do try to make new friends, go to events where
you meet new people and find other people with your interests.

Tips:
1. Fun is a part of spirit too. Do something for fun. Go to the zoo,
a ball game, get a hobby, Enjoy yourself.
2. If you work, use your lunch hour for activities besides eating.
3. Keep your emotional bank account full. Having a high positive
balance won’t bankrupt you, it will invigorate you.

EASY TO FOLLOW TIPS ON HEALTH AND WELLNESS

Everyone wants to be healthy as long as it doesn’t take too much work.
Unfortunately it isn’t that easy but is doable and once you’re into
a routine, it becomes a habit, then a lifestyle, then easy.

Here are some tips just for you:

1. Spend 30 minutes a day in structured movement of some sort.
2. Eat several small meals a day that are balanced in protein,
carbs, fruit, vegetables and fiber.
3. Have periodic checkups with appropriate doctors to prevent
any major health crises before they occur.
4. Read at least five pages of mind stretching material each
day to stimulate your thought processes.
5. Write down one positive thing that you have experienced that
day before you go to sleep.
6. Write down one thing you have done to inch you forward to
a goal you have.
7. Take your supplements on time every day.
8. Take your prescription medicine on time every day.
9. Stay away from areas where you can pick up bacterial infections
and people who are sneezing or coughing.
10. Wash your hands before every meal.
11. Smile several times a day and make sure you laugh as often as possible.
12. Hug a child, an animal or yourself several times a day.
13. Draw your own life, cartoon style.
14. Call a friend you haven’t spoken to in a while and pledge to stay
in touch. Then do it.
15. Go to a movie that makes you laugh.
16. Take a class in something you’ve always wanted to learn.
17. Have a girls night out and share stories that warm your heart.
18. Take a trip to that special place you’ve always wanted to go.

You might be thinking–what does any of this have to do with health
and wellness?

If you don’t feel good or have wonderful people and experiences surrounding
you, you can’t possibly be feeling healthy. All of these things combine
to carry you forth to another day.

There are documented cases of people who were literally given days or weeks
to live, but had a special event or moment that they were determined to see,
and lived until that time. When the event was over, they decided it was
time to let go.

Your state of mind has everything to do with where you are going and how
you live your life.

As a three time cancer survivor, I can attest to the fact that the human
spirit and mind has a lot to do with energy levels and survival. What you
think can determine how you are. Your actions can move you forward or
hold you back.

Some people need a personal motivator to keep them on the right track.
Is that a personal trainer or a special diet plan (think Kirstie Alley)
or maybe even a coach who you call weekly to check in with. Flash cards can
help if you carry them with you or place them on your mirror so you can see
them first thing every morning. You can even make your own on index cards,
which may have more meaning for you because they are your own personal phrases.

Just because you join a gym, doesn’t mean you will go. And just because you go,
doesn’t mean you are doing anything meaningful. I have seen people on treadmills,
pushing the “butt blaster” riding the bike and even on a stability ball talking
on their cell phones. I know there are emergencies that occur, but not at the
levels of talk I’ve seen.

In the end, it is up to you. You can make it as easy or complicated as you want.
But if you follow any of the 18 steps I’ve given you, I know that you will feel
better, have more energy and live a fuller life.

It is my wish and hope that you have a wonderful and healthy life.

Welcome to the world of health and wellness.
