Here it is a wonderful day in San Diego. I spent the weekend at a weekend seminar with Lisa Sasevich and boy, what a time! Met a lot of new people, got more clarity, made new friends, and saw transformation in the process. I am so fortunate that at this point in my life, I continue to learn, continue to get excited, and continue to grow. That’s what keeps me young in spirit and attitude.

Then on Sunday, Abby and I went to Balboa Park for the organ concert and we both enjoyed it very much. She met another cute Yorkie there, and they got along great. The events in the park are fantastic and continue to thrill visitors. More places should offer all the events they do.

I’ve gotten to the gym only once since I’m here (shame on me) but will be there every day from now on. The classes are so packed here that it’s sometimes hard to find a space. But I enjoy all the sweat so you know I will be there.

Spoke to another friend of mine today (Wayne Pickering) because it’s his birthday. We’ve been friends forever and consider ourselves soul mates. He turned 64 and had just finished a mile swim and stretching so you can see why we get along so well.

Well, heading back to Miami Beach the end of the week and my cats will be happy.

Question and Answer:

Q: I have just turned 50 and although I didn’t think it would affect me much, it has. I just can’t get it out of my mind and feel I should be further ahead of where I am. I just feel stymied as to what step I should take next. Can you help?

A: I’m not clear on the exact problem you’re having, but I can tell you that this is the best time of your life.
You are poised to do whatever you want to do. You can change careers, develop a new hobby, study a new language, make new friends, or possibly even move to a new place. I would ask you one thing–if I could wave a magic wand and grant you any wish you want, what would it be? Your answer should give you great insight into your next move. Don’t think it out–just react. It will be a great revelation for you.
Good luck!

Feature Article:

It’s been proven that five minutes of negative thinking takes 24 hours to recover from. Stress doesn’t come from too many hours of work or not getting what you want. Stress comes from high demand and low control. This is an important lesson for everyone no matter what position you’re in. When you have no say in thinks that are really important to you, and yet you’re required to produce anyway–that’s where the frustration starts to build.

It increases to the danger zone when you realize that you do not make a difference. When you have a really fantastic idea that is not being listened to and when you aren’t considered as an individual, it becomes dangerous to everyone. When you are burned out, you aren’t happy at home, at work or in life. And too much stress does result in burnout.

So, identify your stressors. And they can come in all sizes and shapes–human or not. It can be a combination of things, situations or events, related to family, job or school. What causes stress in one person may not even be noticed by someone else. That’s why we can never judge anyone else’s circumstance. Always try to understand and be tolerant.

Always try to reduce the load. Since stress is a result of mental overload, you need to keep everything in perspective and exert assertiveness. State reactions to any situation in a positive way. If you don’t reduce the overload that comes from holding feelings in, you won’t be able to deal with the stress and are just prolonging the problem.
