What a week! Many of us have lived through Hurricane Irene and did
better than others. I was supposed to go to Boiling Springs, PA but
had my flight cancelled (I was flying into Baltimore) and the way
they re-routed me would have made me late for my ride connection.
So I missed the Veteran Speakers Retreat where I was named a
“Legend of the Speaking Profession” a couple of years ago, but
I’ll be there next year.

I needed the time here anyway as there was only one day between
my return from San Diego and the VSR. San Diego was wonderful and
the weather perfect. I had so many business meetings along with
dinners and lunches with friends. I adore it there and the people
are so much calmer than here in Miami Beach. We are always moving
on while they look at things in a much more spiritual way.

I also had a chance to catch up with my college roomie who has had
some health challenges. We had lunch and enjoyed sitting outdoors
with Abby and watching all the other people…

This is my last day in San Diego. It has been fantastic. I always feel so much at peace here and it connects with me on a whole new level.

While here, I have been so busy with friends and meetings and Abby and I have been on the go. All of it is good however, because I have an energy here that never stops. When I arrived, after I did my grocery shopping and took care of Abby, I was off to the local GKIC meeting. John Assaraf was speaking and he was talking directly to me that night. I was also introduced as the person who had come the farthest.

Then the next day I was at a Women’s Wisdom meeting and the program was wonderful. I’m going to another one this evening before leaving in the morning. Thursday was a working day but lots of positive things happened so it was invigorating. On Friday I met with someone I know from 20 years ago, and we will be doing an interview in the near future. Had lunch with another friend who booked me for speeches many years ago, and on Saturday went to…

Here it is a gloomy, rainy afternoon in South Florida. We are known
for our afternoon thunderstorms and have certainly had our share in
the last few weeks. But I keep a positive attitude and look at my
precious animals and everything is sunny again.

Became part of a customer advisory board for AvMed Health Plan which
has been my plan forever. They are really interested in what we have
to say and what our feelings are. I am hoping to make a big contribution
and have an impact.

Abby is doing great and I had her clipped. I swear she has lost a
pound with the hair we had taken off, but the vet says she has gained
a pound from all the meds she is taking. But she’s as peppy as ever,
so I don’t care. She hates these thunderstorms however, and is chicken
whenever they start and hides in corners.

I started cleaning again because my son will be moving in in less than
two months and we have to get the rooms straightened out. I have so
much “stuff” and…

Had a wonderful time at the Coral Springs Chamber of Commerce
Professional Women’s Alliance. What a powerful and dynamic
group of fabulous women (and men too!). Very warm and receiving.
I still believe women are a powerful force in this world and
can make a tremendous difference in everything they do.
Went to my networking group of business people and of course
you know what was on the plate. Economy, shrinking membership,
what should we do mentality. But everyone is facing it and we
all have to pull together and figure it out. These are all good
people who are trying to make it better for their peers and of
course our leaders in D.C. aren’t making it any easier.
Then had dinner with a good friend who is still in demand even
though she’s older than I am and of course that gets me inspired,
motivated and turned on all over again. Her brain is functioning
at the highest level and she never stops.
Met with another friend the next day for lunch and she is doing
great things…

The beginning of the eighth month already. My how time flies when you’re
having fun!
I spent 4 days in Philly, 3 of them taking Steve Harrison’s Publicity
Workshop. Very interesting and informative. Although I do have to say
I knew a lot of what he suggested, it is always great to rediscover things
you’ve stopped doing and to re-evaluate how it’s working. Most of all
for me, I got some key phrases to use and some new techniques. Met my
buddy Bryan Todor for lunch and had a great conversation and discussion.
Steve was very generous in all his teachings and what he gave us. He
won a lot of fans.
My sweet Abby went into some type of seizures while I was there and my
son had her at the vets three times. She is now on medication twice
a day and seems to be doing well. So now she is taking joint medication,
throat medication and her seizure meds. Oh my, see what we do for our
loved ones!
I did an interview for a teleseminar series. It…

Spent this past few days at the FSAE conference. That’s the Florida
Society of Association Executives. I have been a member forever, and
haven’t attended a conference for a while, but it was in Miami so I
really couldn’t say no. Knew some of the speakers (from NSA–National
Speakers Association), and enjoyed the programs. Plus I made some new
friends, I wore my red boa and my purple boa because they said we
should wear feathers one night and boy, did I! Of course, the red bled
all over my jewelry, my hair, and onto my towels. sheets and pillowcases.
Now they’re back in storage for another 20 years!

We hit the Fontainebleau, the Doral, the Hyatt Regency, the Lucky Strike
Lanes and everyone put on a huge spread for us. It was Miami and Miami
Beach at its best.

Off to Philadephia this week. Going to see some old friends and I’m sure
make new ones there as well.

One of the things that I am finding is much more clarity and vision as to
who and what I’m about and I get more…

Came back from the EWomen Conference in Dallas only to be waylaid
on the tarmac for 1 1/2 hours because of an electrical storm. My
poor daughter rode around in circles for an hour (because she doesn’t
have a cell phone) not knowing what happened to me. She finally
headed home and called me really upset. However, I could understand
her frustration, just not borrowing someone else’s phone to call
and find out what was happening. Anyway, I took a taxi home and
all the animals were pleased to see me.

The conference was great and I made many new friends, saw some
interesting programs and made a sizable investment in myself. I
always believe you can learn something new, so I am at it again.
Pretty soon you will discover all the new adventures I have for
you.

Still sore and black and blue from the surgery, but continued to
work out this morning and preparing for my echo tomorrow. I am
now getting them done yearly and will go through a colonoscopy
in another week. You know I believe in prevention, so…

Don’t have as much news this week as my surgery was on Thursday and
I just had my bandages removed this morning. He says I look great
(I look like a lobster on one side!) and that I will have to do another
4 or 5 procedures just to get more skin on my chest. I am sore, sore,
sore but will be back at the gym tomorrow morning.

I went to a Classical Guitar concert at the Bass Museum yesterday
(bandages and all) and it was fantastic! Met some great people there
and formed a new friendship with a lovely woman who is going to spend
the rest of the summer in France. We will reconnect in October.

Did a radio show today that will air on Blog Talk Radio on Tuesday
July 19 at 8 p.m. EST. Why don’t you tune in if you can?

Met with my new marketing team, had a spiritual coaching session and
worked with another coach this past week. They are all so talented
and such wonderful people.

See you next week.

July 4, 2011

As I write this, it’s the 4th of July and a day which we should all
appreciate as our day of independence. And as you all know I believe
we should all be independent, so celebrate yourself as well.

It is also a weekend with an extra day attached and you know I take
that as a time to do some extra fun stuff and also catching up on
opening all those boxes I have packed away. So Saturday I spent
seeing a wonderful stage show “Song Man Dance Man” a one man show
that was out of this world. All the people I was familiar with and
all the songs I love.

Then Sunday I went to see “Bad Teacher” which was a hoot. While I
stare at Cameron Diaz admiring her beautiful face and body, I also
am laughing my head off. Today, I saw “Larry Crown” and of course
appreciate the chemistry and artistry of Julia Roberts and Tom Hanks.
I think Tom Hanks is one Hollywood star where no one has said a
negative thing. And the subject is so…

End of June already–imagine!! It is hot-hot-hot. Had a barbeque at my
granddaughter’s new apartment. It’s tiny, but it is hers, and she loves
it. She and my great grandson share one room but there’s a sheet between
them so he can sleep and she can do her homework etc. Thank goodness she
has air conditioning inside. Do you know I have never used the a.c. in
San Diego? A whole different kind of temperature.
Did my first live streaming webinar in person and spotted myself on the
replay. Amazing what you look like when you don’t know anyone is watching.
Pamela Bruner was the presenter and she did a fantastic job. Wanted to
take advantage of her program that she’s doing here, but will be at a
convention instead.
Went to my my first meeting of the S. Fla ASTD (American Society of Training
and Development) in probably 10 years. I used to be Prez way back when and
there was only one person I recognized. Great program on diversity and
interestingly, the guy I walked in with was from Holland,MI, my…
